This morning the sky was absolutely grey and it was raining a little bit. So we decided to do a little walk first. Yesterday in the visitors centre they told us there is a nice little walk around the Big Brook dam. So that’s what we did first:
(Note: This photo is a panorama shot, can take a bit longer to load)
For some parts along the track we were accompanied by a number of these little birdies:
Then from a small bird-hut we were able to snap this Kookaburra.
Some more from this track:
Look at the length of these trees:
After this walk we were ready to have a nice cappuccino. We had seen on the map that there was a local art-gallery annex coffee shop, so tried our luck there. Unfortunately the cappuccino was a bit disappointing again.
and again the little bird that can be found all around WA
While we were having lunch at a hotel along the main road through the town, some travellers were having lunch in there own camper across the street:
After lunch (by the way: again no cappuccino points ;-) the weather got a little better so we decided to go to the Gloucester Tree. The preparation and way up:
People waiting for the courageous climbers:
Some views from the tree (58 m. high), and yes, the sneakers are Peters!.

DONE IT!
Ok, done it, but paid for it ;-). After driving back to the motel I almost could not get out of the car. My leg muscles were pretty crampy! So, just a bit of reading for the rest of the afternoon (and some photos from the motel veranda:

Who's afraid of 4 eyes?
Some weeks ago we had a typical Ozzie 'pet' in our house for a couple of days. Usually in one corner (of the ceiling) for a whole day, and then in another corner the next day.
Only when it decided to sit on the bedroom wall we decided it was time to relocate outside (nicely with a big bowl, brave Ellen!).
Who we are talking about? Well, here is a photo not too close. In reality our pet was about 15 cm's from left to right:
And then for the ones that can handle a 'closer up' click on this:
And for the really curious ones, this 'pet' is called a Huntsman spider.
Want to know a bit more? Look here.

The destination for today is Pemberton, goal there (for Peter) to climb the Gloucester Tree. On the way there we passed Denmark (coffee stop) and did the Tree Top Walk (yes, even Ellen). Some shots from the drive to Denmark and then Denmark itself:
Then the Tree Top Walk:
Of course there is more to see since the TTW is in a park:
Would you be brave enough to enter:
They really are very high:
And what about this very rare specimen of a megaphone-tree?
Fairy tail tree:
Bigger than life:
On the way to Pemberton a little stop for a short rest with another nice view, and a call to find a motel room in Pemberton:
By the end of the day we arrived at the motel. After some driving around the town, we could not find any nice restaurants, so we decided to have dinner at the motel’s restaurant. When entering the restaurant we saw a real cappuccino machine, so we already planned to have one after dinner… What a disappointment, the manager (who was waiting herself this night) did not really know how to operate the machine. So we ended up with a sort of weak flat white and a cup of hot milk. At least (or of course ;-) she did not put them on the bill…..
